While getting to work this morning, I noticed the front page of Dose.ca: “Why do we blog?” An interesting question.
I think most people have a screaming desire to be heard. In this traditionally individualistic western society we live in, we are so involved with ourselves that we tend to compete with each other for our attention. “You listen to me!” “No, YOU listen to me!” One of our biggest complaints about our relationships is “he/she never listens to me.” We just want to yell!
There are so many useless blogs out there–including this one. Why would I want others to know what I am up to or, God forbid, my deepest thoughts? I can waste so much time writing let alone reading blogs. Yes, I am sometimes curious to know what others think. But mostly I want people to know I am here. I want to be heard in a world so noisy I can’t stand the loneliness in the static.
