Moving the bike around, I almost dropped it, twice! It\u2019s a heavy bugger! Every 500km or so, I need to lubricate the chain. So far, the Bonnie runs like a charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After packing up, I look up a place to breakfast back in Corner Brook, then I ride out. Road 450 is pretty, hilly and curvy, a joy to ride on. It\u2019s one smooth road, sometimes divided, sometimes not. It\u2019s certainly well-maintained. It\u2019s a detour on 431, but well worth it, she says, so I turn that way. I was not expecting what I saw as I turned a corner: an unusual, orange, flat-topped mountain, barren of vegetation, poking above the surrounding, very green hills &amp; mountain ranges. The rock is called <em>peridotite<\/em>, and it\u2019s made of iron, magnesium, nickel, cobalt, and chromium, poisonous to many plants. I take a few pictures of some of the flowers, including a weird shiny red one that\u2019s turned downward, with two parts to the plant, a pitcherplant I think. Not sure about their names; I used <a href=\"https:\/\/identify.plantnet.org\/\">Pl@ntNet<\/a> to identify them. Every time I see one, I have the same reaction, with a big grin on my face: O<em>h goody-goody-goody! I love leaning into the curves, rolling out of them, getting ready for what comes next. It\u2019s exhilarating!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The road past Rocky Harbour is pretty flat and follows the coast of the Gulf of St Lawrence; it\u2019s quite a change from the previous section. The landscape is quite flat here, but we can observe the mountains in the distance on the right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I get to Shallow Bay Campground at the Northern edge of the park. I\u2019m ready for bed.
